Alatay – unexplored national park
About the National Park
Come and discover the Alatay National Park. With its panoramic mountains, rivers and lake at an altitude of 2300m, this nature reserve is home to some exceptionnal flora and fauna. Animal such the snow leopard and the brown bear, which are on the Red Book of the Kyrgyz Republic, still live here and are greatly protected. The Uzun-Akmat forest reserve was formed there on an area of 14,771 hectares.
Program
After 2h of driving, during which you can admire the beauty of the national park, you finally reach the trekking path that leads to the mountains. You'll then embark on a hike of up to 4 hours to reach the lake hidden in the middle of the mountains. It's a magical sight, and well worth the long walk. After a lunch break with this panoramic view, you can cool off in the lake, then climb back down for 2 hours to reach the car.
